Karen’s Korner – Support

SUPPORT

Sometimes we need it. Sometimes we give it.

Life is unpredictable. It can literally change in a moment. Small changes that just can make or break your day – and HUGE occurrences that can take you right off your path…mentally and physically and psychologically. Also keep in mind that things that happen to OTHERS – can strongly impact us as well.

You simply don’t know what you will “need” today – tomorrow – or NEXT week! OR what someone else may need FROM you…..

Recently I have witnessed personal joy, angst, fear, excitement, apprehension and complete despair.

*Interesting that it is SUPER important to be JUST as supportive when good things happen – as well as stepping up when needed in crisis!

Sometimes we have the privilege of crossing paths with complete strangers….and being able to offer SUPPORT to people we don’t even know. I have experienced a hug from someone who saw what I needed and reacted in the moment – and I have been the giver of the same. I drive a car with a SMILIN plate….and it makes me so happy when people drive by and smile and wave!  It doesn’t have to be big to make a big impact.

We are here as humans to help. However it’s important to remember that old saying – you can’t pour from an empty cup!

I personally HATE asking for help. I want to be that super human ALL the time giving help and support to others…but we all know it is not possible to be super human. We are only human…and that is enough!

I volunteer for a Charity I LOVE – that supports a population of people in Calgary that don’t ask for help…even though they TRULY deserve/need/require it. That charity in turn SUPPORTS me…my need to help…my need to feel like part of a community…my desire to just make a difference to one person…even if it is small – and no one else ever sees it or hears about it!

I try and SUPPORT small business and local business. Yes…I have been known to order on Amazon because it is cheaper/faster and more convenient. However the satisfaction of supporting small/local business/service providers truly resonates with me!  If you know me – ONE of my famous lines is “I have someone for that!”

We see your SUPPORT of our business in small ways……when you share a new listing on Facebook or comment on our new listings!  We can also never be more thankful for SUPPORT of our business via reviews that YOU took time out of your busy lives to write!

So in December – please do NOT stress about gifts, perfect decorations, hosting the epic event or losing 5 pounds…..focus on SUPPORTing others in any way possible (time/hugs/texts/calls/letters/emails/baking – or just a sincere smile or a thank you)….and be willing to receive some yourselves….
